Before I After
Stories of women from Neringa
The book Before I After: Stories of Women from Neringa consist of an introduction by Agnė Bagdžiūnaitė who made situated micro research in Neringa and fragments of the stories of Neringa’s women, structured in two main parts: before and after. The researcher talked to women living in Neringa about their living and working conditions in Neringa during the Soviet era and the changes they experienced after Lithuania regained its independence. At the same time, the women talk about the changes in the town’s resort industry, the influence of the fishing industry, and the peculiarities of German tourism in Neringa, which began in the 1990s.
The interviews were conducted in November 2020 during the residency at Nida Art Colony of Vilnius Academy of Arts as part of Neringa Municipality Scholarship.
